Cleveland Crunch Bring Home 2021 MASL 2 Championship

(Park City, KS) July 18, 2021 – The Cleveland Crunch made history Sunday night when they defeated the Wichita Wings 11-6 in the M2 Championship match at Hartman Arena.

The Wings scored the first goal of the match, but the Crunch bounced back with two goals from Mike Derezic and Admir Suljevic by the end of the first quarter. Suljevic found the back of the net again to set the tone for the second quarter. At 6:09 Derezic sent a pass into Smith Pepper who buried it into the net, giving the Crunch a three-goal lead. Wichita instantly responded with a goal of their own, but the Crunch ultimately had the last word as Dave Jordan scored with just 22 seconds left in the quarter.

The Crunch carried their momentum straight into the third quarter when Sami Mutemwa scored the sixth goal for Cleveland. Derezic followed up with his second goal of the match. Wichita scored two in a row at the six-minute mark, but Suljevic scored to end their streak. Wichita scored again to end the quarter at 9-5. The Crunch wasted no time in the fourth quarter as Tom Beck took only 30 seconds to hit one into the net. The game went scoreless for ten minutes until Kevin Blackwood scored the 11th and final goal for the Crunch. The match ended with a goal from the Wings with 13 seconds left.
