Cleveland Crunch Kick Off Sixth Season With High Energy Media Day at North Olmsted Soccer Sportsplex

The Cleveland Crunch officially opened its sixth season with a high-energy media day on Nov. 20 at the Soccer Sportsplex in North Olmsted. The afternoon showcased the franchise’s culture, its loyal fanbase and a team hungry to reclaim championship gold.

Media, interns, sponsors and fans packed the Sportsplex as players rotated through photos, interviews and autograph sessions, creating an open-access environment rarely seen in professional sports. Players spent time with fans of all ages, posing for pictures, talking soccer and embracing the family-style atmosphere that has long defined the Crunch brand.

Among the players generating buzz was forward Ma’Cain Spragling, who expressed confidence in the team’s direction and made it clear he expects not only a return to the championship, but a different ending this time. “We’re not just going back, we’re winning it this year,” he said with a focused energy that set the tone for the day.

Star forward Gabriel Pewu shared a similar excitement about the upcoming season, while Head Coach Antonio Manfut echoed the team’s belief in their preparation, chemistry and hunger. The message was clear throughout the building: expectations are high, and the Crunch are embracing them.

This season also marks a major shift as the Crunch move their home games to the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University (CSU) in downtown Cleveland, expanding its audience and elevating the gameday experience. The organization celebrated new and returning partnerships as well, including WOVU 95.9 FM, Ohio Media School and the Bearded Browns Podcast, all present and active during media day activities.

Special recognition went to Amber Phillips, Gameday Staff Coordinator, who ensured interns and media personnel were organized, informed and positioned throughout the event. Her leadership helped create a smooth and professional environment from start to finish.

After media sessions wrapped, the team hit the turf for a spirited practice that further fueled the anticipation surrounding the season. Crisp ball movement, fast-paced drills and visible chemistry showed exactly why fans are eager for opening night at the Wolstein.

For many players, fans and media personalities alike this milestone season carries meaning. As someone in attendance, observing practice, capturing photos and connecting with players one-on-one, it’s clear the Crunch are entering this year motivated, united, and ready to put Cleveland soccer back on the championship stage.

The city, the fans and the organization are all aligned on one thing: this season feels special, and the Crunch intend to prove why.
