Crunch Advance to MASL 2 Championship with 12-6 Win Over Amarillo

(Park City, KS) July 17, 2021 - The Cleveland Crunch defeated the Amarillo Bombers FC in an M2 semi-final matchup at Hartman Arena on Saturday night. The Crunch will face the Wichita Wings in the M2 championship on Sunday. 

The Bombers were the first on the board to begin the match and held their lead for most of the first quarter. Admir Suljevic tied up the score for the Crunch with three minutes left and then advanced Cleveland into the lead with his second goal. Amarillo was first to find the net in the second quarter but was quickly followed up with a goal from Mike Derezic. Vinny Bell, Dave Jordan, and Ryan Minick contributed a goal each to the Crunch’s four-goal lead. The half ended with a goal from Amarillo, leaving the score 6-3.

Cleveland kicked off the scoring in the second half when Derezic buried a goal into the net just 30 seconds in. Jordan scored his second goal at the 6:37 mark, which was followed by a fourth goal for the Bombers at 4:59. The quarter finished when Tom Beck scored off an assist from Minick. The Crunch continued the scoring right into the fourth quarter with a third goal from Derezic. After six minutes, Amarillo scored their fifth goal, which was quickly responded by Jordan at 5:17. Amarillo scored again to shorten Cleveland’s lead, however, the Crunch came through with the final goal by the goalie, Marijo Musa. 


The Cleveland Crunch will advance onto the MASL 2 championships on Sunday, July 18th at 6:00 PM EST.
