CRUNCH FALL SHORT TO RAPID CITY IN OVERTIME

Feb. 26 2023 (Cleveland, Ohio) - A feisty and high intensity game at the Soccer Sportsplex Feb. 25 resulted in a 8-7 loss for the Cleveland Crunch against Rapid City.


The Crunch played aggressive defense in the first quarter allowing only one goal. Midfielder Admir Suljevic ended the quarter with a goal to tie the game 1-1. Midfielder Sami Mutemwa scored the second goal of the night, putting the score 2-2 at the end of the first half. 


The Crunch started the second half strong as defender Benny Hryszko found the back of the net early into the third. Forwards Parker Csiszar and Mikey Derezic also found the back of the net. Rapid City put in three goals, putting the score at 5-5 going into the fourth.


The fourth quarter started with two fast goals from Rapid City forcing the Crunch to fight back. Defender and Team Captain Dave Jordan scored off an assist from Suljevic. Derezic scored his second goal of the night, with less than two minutes left to tie the score up 7-7 forcing the game to overtime. 


With a golden goal on the line, Rapid City scored first, ending the game 8-7. 


The 6-3 Cleveland Crunch head to Cincinnati on March 11 to take on the Cincinnati Swerve at 8:05 p.m. at the GameTime Training Center.
