by Kelsey Lauriel

January 30, 2022 (Cleveland, Ohio) - The Cleveland Crunch advanced to 5-0 after sweeping the Chicago Mustangs 12-5 for its second victory of the weekend.

The Crunch left the first quarter with a demanding 5-1 lead with two goals from midfielder Admir Suljevic and team Captain and Defender David Jordan. Kevin Blackwood also put one on the board for the Crunch in the first.

The Crunch’s defense was strong in the second quarter, as the team only allowed one goal from the Mustangs, leaving the score at 5-2 going into halftime.

The Crunch’s offense took over early in the third quarter, as the team found the back of the net six times with goals from Sami Mutemwa, Rylan Wikle, Ryan Minick, Hunter Johnson, and Suljevic. Johnson scored his first goal of the season, and Suljevic scored his third of the night, completing his second hat trick this weekend. The Crunch led 11-3 going into the fourth quarter.

Wikle scored his second of the night shortly after the fourth quarter started. The final of tonight’s match was 12-5.

“It’s the chemistry, and that’s what makes us the team that we are,” Crunch Defender Boban Cancar said in his post game interview.

For the second time this weekend, Suljevic was named MetroHealth’s “Man of the Match.” Suljevic’s three goals and three assists were crucial in this weekend's sweep over Chicago.

The Crunch take on the Cincinnati Swerve in Cincinnati next weekend on February 5th.
