LOUIS KASTELIC NAMED MAJOR ARENA SOCCER LEAGUE 2 COACH OF THE YEAR

August 10, 2021 (CLEVELAND, Ohio) – League officials from the Major Arena Soccer League 2 named Cleveland Crunch’s head coach Louis Kastelic the 2021 M2 coach of the year.

Kastelic is a John Carroll University alumnus where he played from 2005-2008. During his time playing for the Blue Streaks, he recorded a total of 16 goals and 28 assists. He also won two Ohio Athletic Conference championships and made two NCAA tournament appearances. Louis then played indoor soccer in the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) where he was a member of the Ohio Vortex from 2012 to 2013, and the Cleveland Freeze from 2013 to 2014. 

His coaching career began at Aurora High School where he was the assistant coach from 2009 to 2010. Kastelic then served as an assistant coach at John Carroll University from 2011 until 2018.  During his time as an assistant coach at JCU, the team won two OAC championships and made two NCAA tournament appearances. For indoor soccer, he coached the Cleveland Legacy for one year. 

As a coach for the Cleveland Crunch, he led them to a MASL 2 championship title in their first year back to professional indoor soccer. The Cleveland Crunch recorded seven wins and three losses in the 2021 regular season under Coach Louis Kastelic and finished a perfect 6-0 at home.
